Why Mile2 C)ISSO is PREFERABLE to the ISC2 CISSP

It’s noteworthy to highlight that the same international author, Kevin Henry, who wrote the official ISC² CISSP, also authored Mile2’s official C)ISSO workbook and exam. When the C)ISSO was originally developed, Mile2’s intention was to create a detailed foundational cybersecurity course similar in scope to the widely recognized ISC² CISSP.

It is important to understand that both courses cover essentially the same subject matter, with one key difference: the C)ISSO focuses heavily on Information Systems management modules—such as how to implement controls, when to apply them, and how they operate in real-world environments—rather than covering topics only at a theoretical level.

The C)ISSO course was designed for forward-thinking cybersecurity professionals who manage or play a key role in an organization’s information security department. It addresses a broad range of industry best practices, knowledge, and skills expected of a security leader. C)ISSO candidates learn both the theory and the practical requirements for implementing core security concepts, monitoring systems, and ensuring compliance.

Using a risk-based approach, C)ISSO professionals are able to implement and maintain cost-effective security controls that align not only with business requirements, but also with global industry standards.

How is Mile2’s C)ISSO similar to ISC²’s CISSP?

  • The C)ISSO covers all eight CISSP domains based on the 2020 exam objectives.
  • The C)ISSO includes exam questions that are very similar in structure and content to those found on the CISSP exam.

How is Mile2’s C)ISSO different from ISC²’s CISSP?

  • The C)ISSO is easier to learn.
  • The C)ISSO breaks the CISSP’s eight-domain curriculum into 19 smaller modules. This instructional design approach improves learning outcomes by presenting content in manageable sections rather than overwhelming learners with large volumes of material at once.

No Practical Experience Required

Mile2 does not require prior job-related or hands-on experience to obtain the C)ISSO. In contrast, ISC² requires CISSP candidates to have at least five years of professional experience across multiple domains. Since the C)ISSO does not include hands-on labs, Mile2 determined that requiring practical experience would be unnecessary.

  • Exam Format: The C)ISSO exam is a 2-hour test with 100 questions, while the CISSP is a 4-hour exam with 200 questions.
  • The Mile2 C)ISSO exam is taken online through the Mile2 MACS system—anytime, anywhere—whereas the CISSP must be scheduled at an authorized ISC² testing center.
  • The C)ISSO has a higher passing percentage and is open-book.
  • The C)ISSO exam fee is $500, compared to $695 for the CISSP.

How does Mile2 help you pass both the C)ISSO and CISSP exams?

Mile2 provides an updated CISSP exam preparation video to every student who takes the C)ISSO course. This CISSP prep video was also developed by Kevin Henry and covers the CISSP exam objectives.

In addition, the C)ISSO course kit includes a CISSP preparation booklet—called C)ISSO+, A Guide to Passing the CISSP—which helps students prepare for the CISSP exam should they choose to pursue it.
